Development Consultant

As a Development Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting the assessment of development cases to ensure the seamless delivery of essential infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to grow with the team, have exposure to technical, planning and operational elements and enhance your technical, stakeholder management and organisational skills. Generally, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess submissions made to Sydney Water to identify impacts on surrounding environments.
  • Provides accurate advice to customers within corporate response times aligning to property development and connectivity guidelines, processes and policies.
  • Maintaining case management documentation with a strong focus on quality control.
  • Facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders to resolve concerns and issues, helping developers stay on track with their project deadlines.
  • Read and interpret plans, diagrams and maps associated with property development.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Develop and understanding of funding requirements and calculating and issuing Infrastructure Contributions with precision and accountability.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, solutions-driven professional with:

  • Proven experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deliver results.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. University/TAFE graduates are encouraged to apply!
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse options and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to assess and review key documents, including commercial deeds, designs, funding/procurement packages, and finalisation packages.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure servicing types (water, wastewater, stormwater, recycled water) would be beneficial.
