About the Opportunity
As the Group Accounting Manager you are responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial and management reporting across Super Retail Group and its entities. Leading the Group Accounting team, this role oversees the integrity of the general ledger, consolidated reporting, and balance sheet and P&L outcomes while ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting standards. As the subject matter expert on accounting treatment and financial systems, the role drives consistent and compliant reporting, provides expert analysis of actuals, forecasts and budgets, and supports informed business decision-making through high-quality financial insights.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Lead the Group Accounting team and set clear operational direction to deliver accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting.
- Own the month-end close and reporting process, delivering timely insights and a single source of truth for executive leadership.
- Maintain a strong financial control environment, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and financial governance to support accurate reporting and audit readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, standardisation, automation, and effective management of finance system interfaces.
- Partner with finance and business stakeholders to provide analysis of actuals, budgets, and forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
- Lead statutory reporting, audit, and tax support activities, working closely with internal and external auditors and finance teams.
- Act as the accounting SME on projects and business change initiatives, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment, controls, and financial outcomes are embedded.
About you…
We're looking for a proven finance leader with strong technical accounting expertise, a passion for continuous improvement, and experience in complex, fast-paced environments. CA or CPA qualified, you'll bring a hands-on approach to financial reporting, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership, with the ability to drive compliance, strengthen controls, and deliver high-quality financial outcomes.
What you bring
- Proven experience leading large, geographically dispersed finance or accounting teams within complex organisations.
- Extensive financial accounting expertise, with the ability to provide specialist technical accounting advice and guidance.
- CA or CPA qualified, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience operating within a listed company or large corporate reporting environment.
- Solid understanding of regulatory, statutory, and financial reporting requirements, with up-to-date technical knowledge.
- Demonstrated success leading and embedding change initiatives in fast-paced, evolving business environments.
- Experience within retail or another high-volume, fast-moving industry is highly regarded.
- Advanced proficiency in financial reporting systems, data analysis tools, and financial management technology.
