Our service:

The Way Back Support Service (TWBSS) is a non-clinical support service focused on providing support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide. This is an Aftercare service initiative funded by the Western Sydney Primary Health Network (PHN).

Role Overview:

Provide specialist coaching, guidance and mentoring to Peer Support Coordinators.

Working collaboratively with external stakeholders to successfully deliver The Way Back service.

  • Provide person-centred guidance and mentoring to Peer Support Coordinators to support the implementation of ‘The Way Back’ service and adhere to the model of service.
  • The Service Leader works in close partnership with the Service Manager to provide leadership, practice development and mentoring sessions to the Peer Support Coordinator team using a strengths-based and recovery-focused approach.
  • Consultation, liaison, and linkage with internal and external service systems to provide a full range of tailored supports.
  • Active participation within relevant interagency networks and with consumers, families and extended agencies as required.
  • The Service Leader monitors and reviews the systems and processes used in Consumer Services. The collected information is used to analyse service delivery outcomes and to enhance the effectiveness of support for persons within the service.

 

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Peer Work, or Mental Health.

Experience & Skills

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery and proactivity in managing wellbeing
  • Previous experience in peer work and management / leadership role
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with people at risk of suicide
  • Demonstrated effective listening, communication skills, empathy and the capacity to relate with others with dignity and respect
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to lead staff and cultural change through influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply thoughtful and ethical decision making and act within professional boundaries
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance 
  • Current Drivers License
