Job Description


We are seeking a driven individual with a passion for the research industry. One of our clients is looking to add a strong Medical Laboratory Scientist to their team. Responsibilities include:


1) Assist with performing phlebotomy and collecting appropriate specimens from patients, as ordered

2) Ensure pre-authorization and complete appropriate consent forms prior to collection of limited coverages tests

3) Assist with special procedures, as needed

4) Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results

5) Perform specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology and Immunology specimens

6) Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment

7) Perform daily, weekly and monthly instrument maintenance, as indicated

8) Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and documents all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument

9) Record proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators and reagents

10) Participate in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and report results at least once a year

11) Complete yearly competence training

12) Prepare peripheral blood smear and competently perform complete WBC differential on normal and abnormal smears

13) Record results on appropriate worksheet and computer system and performs file maintenance

14) Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance

15) Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications

16) Maintain proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program

17) Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing

18) Participate in development of new instruments and procedures as needed

19) Process and send specimens to multiple reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house

20) Process in-house and in-coming results for charting

21) Chart patient results in a timely manner, as needed

22) Compile with quality assurance standards

23) Adhere to all OSHA compliance laws and universal precaution procedures

24) Maintain a clean working environment

25) Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the research industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in research and development

Base Salary: Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
