Job Description

Our client, a leading paper products company, is currently seeking an accomplished Health, Safety, Environment and Security Manager to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:

1) Manage compliance of employee health policies including injury management, accident investigations and hazardous chemical safety data sheets

2) Manage continuous improvement of a mill wide safety program that is exemplary of the highest industrial standards

3) Assist management in formulating policy and regulations relating to safety culture improvement

4) Maintain and manage the effectiveness of site policies and procedures

5) Coordinate and conduct safety-related training as per company’s policies and OSHA requirements

6) Select and maintain safety and personal protective equipment

7) Develop, coordinate, organize and communicate safety inspections and audits of various safety and regulatory requirements

8) Conduct new employee safety orientations and routine safety training sessions and tool box talks

9) Conduct contractor safety orientations for shutdowns and outside contract work

10) Coordinate completion and maintenance of job hazard analysis

11) Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures

12) Assist in the implementation of process safety management plan for flammable chemicals

13) Maintain training records

14) Monitor and communicate activities with safety-related work orders

15) Assist with risk assessment evaluations of new and modified equipment

16) Manage compliance efforts for federal, state and local environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid, hazardous and universal waste

17) Provide positive, professional, effective representation of company to regulatory agencies

18) Manage monitoring and reporting requirements for environmental regulations

19) Manage security initiatives of the facility to ensure the safety and security of employees and property

20) Support, maintain and continually improve the company’s quality management system in accordance with requirements of the IATF 16949 International Standard

Critical Requirements

1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the paper products industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in health, safety, environment and security management

Compensation and Other Details

Base Salary: Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
