We are currently seeking a Management Accountant to join our team based in Perth CBD. This is a permanent and full time position.
Reporting to the Manager Finance, you will be responsible for supporting St Barbara’s financial planning, budgeting and management reporting processes. You will prepare accurate management accounts, cost and variance analysis, and forecasts, while partnering with operational and corporate stakeholders to provide timely, insightful financial information. Through strong financial analysis and business partnering you will help drive decision making, cost discipline and continuous improvement across the organisation.
The opportunity
- Accurately completing month end management accounting procedures, including journals, accruals and reconciliations, within required timeframes.
- Preparing monthly management variance analysis and commentary against budget and forecast.
- Coordinating and delivering the annual budget and periodic forecast processes, working with operational and corporate stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate and well-supported inputs.
- Providing insightful cost accounting, analysis and reporting that supports operational performance and cost control.
- Delivering performance reporting and analytics that focus leadership's attention on business performance, risks and opportunities.
- Supporting the monthly consolidation of Group management and financial reporting outputs.
- Assisting with the accounts payable process, reviewing invoices and bank details prior to payment runs.
- Empowering functional department management to identify, monitor, understand and manage key performance indicators.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes, systems and reporting, and championing best practice across the finance team.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- CA, CPA or CIMA qualification or actively working towards professional accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience in a management accounting, financial planning & analysis, or similar finance role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and management reporting.
- High level of computer literacy, with advanced capability in Excel, and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and business partner with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive with an ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with high integrity and reliably handle information with strict confidentiality.
- Experience using accounting/ERP systems such as Pronto or similar.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, financial modelling and business planning processes.
- Experience working in the mining industry or a similar asset-intensive, multi-site environment.
