We are currently seeking a Manager Rehabilitation to join our team. This is a three-year fixed term full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, you will spend time on the ground managing a team to deliver high quality Rehabilitation outcomes for the benefit of the Simberi environment and community, ensuring key stakeholder relationships are well maintained and the Simberi operations meet all relevant environment and community related compliance obligations.

The opportunity

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the Rehabilitation strategy for Simberi for current areas of disturbance.
  • Accountable for implementing a risk management framework to reduce impact of existing mining activities on freshwater and marine ecosystems.
  • Engaging with operational departments to implement proactive management systems to mitigate the impact of new site developments.
  • Working closely with the Community Relations Department in managing stakeholder interactions through regular meetings with landowners and affected communities as well as regular meetings between Simberi and PNG regulatory bodies (MRA, CEPA etc).
  • Participating in and executing studies to determine and manage long term impacts of mining operations, i.e. ARD, and sedimentation.
  • Providing timely, accurate and relevant Environmental related advice to the site Executive General Manager.
  • Identifying and being a resource for Community Relations in opportunities for the involvement of local community groups that can be engaged in the Company’s project activities.
  • Ensuring Simberi Operations meets all relevant internal and external Environmental related compliance obligations and is considered a welcome guest in host communities.

Relevant Environmental experience in mining operation.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong ability to lead and work effectively within a team.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • High leave of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
