The Role            

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, the incumbent will assist in maintaining plant and equipment availabilities and repair and replacement costs and availability of materials /equipment.

This is an exciting time to join Simberi & St Barbara as we embark on our “Building Brilliance” journey to transform the business and deliver sustainable value. 

This is a FIFO position, a 21/14 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen or Tabar group of Islands.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • As a member of the Maintenance Team actively participate and contribute to the overall effective Planning and performance of plant and Equipment at Simberi.
  • Develop and maintain a professional presence with Internal and external personnel and aligned industries so as to project a positive image of the Maintenance Department’s capabilities and vision.
  • Provide assistance to maintenance and operations function specifically through monitoring equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Actively create and maintain an environment of openness, responsiveness and responsibility.
  • Actively participate in Health, Safety and Environment initiatives including the Monthly Safety Meeting.
  • Provide assistance to the Maintenance Superintendent, Foremen and Supervisors in driving a “best practice” climate and efficiency in all activities.
  • Assist Maintenance Team Members in achieving a higher level of understanding of the expectations of plant availability and production output.
  • Write and present reports as required or directed.
  • Minimising maintenance impact on environment.

 Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Experience in RCA and investigation processes
  • CBAM knowledge and experience
  • CMS knowledge and understanding
  • Report writing
  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanical mining experience
  • Oil analysis experience and understanding
  • Experience with OEM systems, software,technical bulletins etc
  • Mechanical engineering degree
  • At least 10 years relevant mining maintenance experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft office suites etc
  • Data control and management
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role
