We are currently seeking a Human Resources Superintendent to join our team, permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, the purpose of this role is to support Simberi Operations with the provision of Human Resource services, including the implementation and ongoing compliance with the Company’s human resources systems and policies, procedures, guidelines and, to provide sound advice and support to the operations in all HR, Industrial Relations (IR), Labour and personnel related requirements.

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  •  Ensuring safe work practices, own health and safety and of all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported and addressed.
  • Supporting the HR Manager to ensure the effective implementation of people systems on site and the ongoing compliance of these systems.
  • Supporting the HR Manager to ensure the operation has an appropriate suite of human resources policies, procedures, guidelines, and forms and that these are readily available to users.
  • Contributing to the effective implementation of designated key systems and processes within the operation (e.g. Work Performance System, Discipline Management System, Recruitment System, Onboarding System).
  • Providing sound people-related advice and information to managers and leaders in the business.
  • Supporting the HR Manager to ensure the Company is compliant with all people-related obligations (e.g., IR & payroll matters).
  • Contributing to designated HR projects.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in the quality of the Company’s talent pool and availability of capable people suited to business requirements.
  • Supporting the establishment of the desired safety culture across the Company.
  • Contributing productively as a member of the Human Resources Team.
  • Manage disciplinary processes and actions.
  • Oversee the development of the human resources monthly report.
  • Delegate responsibility and authority through clear task allocation and monitoring of performance on those tasks
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to the site HR, Recruitment & Payroll teams.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • ·Assisting with the delivery of an annual Human Resources Plan that derives from the St Barbara strategic and business plans.

People Accountabilities

  • Contributing to building, developing, and leading an effective Human Resources Team.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business/Management
  • Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes
  • Current unencumbered’ ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks and enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Commercial acumen to ensure appropriate management of contracts and supply chain outcomes
  • Be prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement, and demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a hands-on approach
