The Role

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent; the Mobile Maintenance Foreman will lead and Supervise the Simberi mobile plant workshop for the safe and effective maintenance of the Simberi mobile fleet and work within the site Training Policy to supervise and develop Simberi employees, particularly maintenance fitters

This is an exciting time to join Simberi & St Barbara as we embark on our “Building Brilliance” journey to transform the business and deliver sustainable value. 

This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 15/13 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring safe work practices, own health and safety and all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported and addressed.
  • Assisting in the development of the Training and Development programs to improve employee skill levels
  • Providing engineering maintenance and management expertise for the training of national employees
  • Promoting safety to employees in all aspects of processing and maintenance
  • Managing controlling maintenance activities
  • Immediately reporting and investigating incidents
  • Training, mentoring and developing the mobile maintenance team
  • Scheduling accountabilities
  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the team/crew.

People accountabilities

  • Contributing to the development of capability within the team/crew.
  • Contributing to an effective team/crew.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Ensuring outputs and development of the team/crew.

Qualifications, skills, and experience required:

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Trade Certificate
  • At least 10 years relevant supervisory experience
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role
  • Relevant resources industry work experience
