We are currently seeking a Crusher Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Process Operations Superintendent, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure continuous and reliable transport of ore from the mine to the processing plant, meeting production targets while maintaining strict safety and operational standards. 

The Crusher Supervisor leads and coordinates the Crusher team, oversees daily operations, monitors equipment performance, and implements preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities. The role also ensures compliance with company policies, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to optimize conveyor efficiency and plant productivity.

The opportunity

Technical Accountabilities

  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the Simberi Crushing Circuit, ensuring continuous crushed ore transferred via the Arial RopeCon conveying system to the Processing Plant Stockpile for the Mills.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identifying and resolving operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the crushing circuit, including belts, pulleys, motors, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports, including production outputs, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the Crusher operators and team members.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving for mechanical, electrical or instrumentation faults on the Crushing circuit.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulatory and company standards.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily crushing circuit operations to ensure continuous crushed ore delivery to process plant stockpile to the mills and meet production targets.
  • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and inspections of crushing circuit equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Organize work shifts, breaks, and task allocations for the Crushing circuit team to maintain efficient operations.
  •  Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate plant requirements, operational delays, or emergency repairs.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and processing teams to ensure that operational activities are aligned and do not conflict with other site operations.
  • Maintain a calendar for major maintenance, upgrades, or inspections and communicate timelines to all relevant stakeholders.
  •  Ensure timely reporting of operational status and any deviations from the schedule to management. 

People accountabilities

  • Supervise, lead, and provide guidance to the Crusher circuit operators and team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members follow company safety procedures and operational standards.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop skills and technical competencies, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Conduct performance assessments, feedback sessions, and toolbox talks to support continuous improvement and team development.
  • Allocate tasks and shifts effectively to ensure adequate staffing for operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for operational or technical queries related to the RopeCon system.
  • ·Foster collaboration with maintenance, processing, and HSE teams to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.
  • Ensure effective communication of operational updates, incidents, and improvement initiatives to the team and management.

  • Certificate or training in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Engineering
  • Experience leading a small team
  • Able to maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot conveyor equipment
  • Safe work practices and knowledge of workplace safety rules
  • Good communication and teamwork skills 

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in a mining or processing plant
  • Knowledge of environmental and community impacts of mining
  • Able to use simple operational software or monitoring tools
  • Experience in training or guiding team members
  • Additional safety or technical certifications are a plus
