Job Summary

We are currently seeking to recruit Mill Maintenance Planner to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations on Simberi Island in New Ireland Province of PNG.

The Role

Reporting to the Planning & Reliability Superintendent, the primary responsibility of the Maintenance Planner is to effectively provide maintenance planning functions, developing maintenance plans for weekly maintenance including preventative & corrective maintenance actions of all Fixed Plant assets supporting our processing plant.

This is a FIFO position, with a 21/14 roster. Point of Hire available: Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Tabar Islands Group, Alotau, Buka, Goroka, Hoskins, Madang, Popondetta and Wapenamanda.

Role Accountabilities

Technical Accountabilities:

  • Daily planning schedules creating work orders ordering parts external and internal.
  • Planning shutdowns using Microsoft project ensuring all work orders are closed off with history added.
  • Ordering and identifying parts for procurement.
  • Maintain condition monitoring program for equipment for the assigned plant and ensure condition-based maintenance strategy is applied whenever possible.
  • Monitor equipment performance, frequent failures, and analysis to diagnose cause and advice on remedial measures including Short Term Actions.
  • Maintain data in the computerised system and produces regular reports and management information date.
  • Check equipment records and review equipment performance to determine state of equipment.
  • Discuss with Operations and Maintenance personnel and participate in equipment performance enhancement programs, suggestions to improve reliability and prevent chronic breakdowns.
  • Contributes to the preparation of predictive, preventive, modification and major shutdown maintenance program and equipment checklists for all equipment in the plant.
  • Follow up of major equipment overhauls.
  • Provide input for the design review of plant modifications from the reliability point of view as and when requested.
  • Guide, direct, train and motivate subordinates.
  • Provide technical support in maintaining On-line and Off-line systems software and hardware.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for complex rotating equipment problems.
  • Technical coordination with other plant availability personnel to diagnose / troubleshoot machinery problems and issue recommendations.
  • Issue recommendations based on the Vibration analysis of critical equipment.
  • Issue recommendations based on Thickness testing analysis of critical equipment.
  • Follow-up of recommendations based on Thickness testing analysis of critical equipment.
  • Follow-up of maintenance jobs with the view of quality assurance leading to problem solving and preventing repeat-failures.
  • Actively participate in Reliability improvement programs of Rotating equipment.
  • Actively works in CMMS system to get the equipment overhauls history, PM plans etc.
  • Contribute on continuous basis in improving the Planning schedules to achieve Company goals and objectives.
  • Carry out other operational tasks as required.

 Qualifications, Skills, and Experience required:

Essential:

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values.
  • At least 5 years project management experience.
  • Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role.
  • Experience in project management, from conception to delivery.
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
  • Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools.

Desirable:

  • A valid PNG Driver’s License
  • Project management qualification
  • Civil engineering qualification
  • Mechanical engineering qualification
  • Structural engineering qualification
