We are currently seeking a Process Maintenance Trainer to join our team. Permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Buka, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Senior Training Supervisor, the Process Maintenance Trainer is responsible for the training and development of a workforce that is on a continuous shift roster and provides effective utilisation of all resources in a safe and efficient manner to achieve optimum performance.
The opportunity
Scheduling accountabilities
- Ensure that the process plant operators reach the required level of training to achieve plant targets.
- Develop, implement and maintain Process Operations Training Programmes and systems for the various roles in the Processing Department
- Define training needs and maintain training matrix for the Process Plant employees and crews for achieving targets in their relevant area
- Provide technical and supervisory training to the department work crews
- Participate in the department promotion of the departmental continuous improvement programmes
- Ensure that all personnel are current in relevant standards and practices
- Ensuring all records and evidence of training and assessments are duly captured and uploaded in the Training Management System
- Completing monthly reporting requirements, determining key areas for ongoing training and understanding current weekly Process Plant targets
- Develop company specific training programs
- Identify gaps in the training matrix to prepare 3 months look ahead for the planned training
- Maintain the Process department specific training matrix
- Responsibility for the correct and proper execution of all mandatory safety & site procedure competencies to all relevant employees
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within personal work area
- Carry out other operational tasks as required
People accountabilities
- Using established training methods and in conjunction with the Training Department train work colleagues to achieve competency in the area identified and within the scope of their position.
- Participate in training provided by the business

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- 10 Years’ experience in a Gold Process Operations or Metallurgical role
- Significant experience as a Process Trainer and experience in a similar role within the training environment.
- Strong time management ability to meet all specified deadlines.
- Ability to coordinate work with other internal departments to achieve successful training outcomes.
- Ability to identify operator skill deficiencies and propose remedial actions or training.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong time management ability to meet all specified deadlines.
- High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
- Commercial acumen relevant to the role
Desirable
- Certified Trainer qualifications.
- Two years training supervisory experience.
