We are currently seeking an Boilermaker to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).
Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, the primary responsibility of the Boilermaker is to provide support in maintenance of Fixed Plant Equipment (as designated), while ensuring health, safety, environmental, community relations and quality workmanship standards are maintained, all for the best value. Ensure adherence to statutory requirements as a minimum standard.

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.
The opportunity
Technical Accountabilities
- Undertaking all fabrication duties to carry out repairs or to enhance plant equipment as per Supervisor instruction.
- Assist in Installation of new plant, equipment and pipe work including automated machinery.
- Ensuring achievement of overall equipment targets, by ensuring machines operate with zero unscheduled down time.
- Troubleshooting of all plant equipment to ensure improved productivity and safety.
- Contributing to obedience to all OH&S and standard work procedures.
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards within personal work area;
- Contributing to achieving maximum levels of machine uptime through the efficient and effective maintenance of plant & equipment and project work associated with new installations, the manufacture of fixtures and automotive equipment.
- Assisting in major projects and coordinating smaller projects.
- Undertaking work to maintenance/repair schedule.
- Reporting of mechanical activities to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Undertaking & carrying out other operational tasks as required.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in maintaining machinery.
- Welding experience and qualifications.
- Understand relevant engineering standards and associated procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage time.
- A continuous improvement approach to all tasks.
- Developing initiative and problem-solving skills
- Prepared to accept responsibility.
