We are currently seeking a General Manager Processing to join our team. This is a three-year fixed term full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city

Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Simberi Operations you will is responsible safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of all processing activities, ensuring alignment of process operation, fixed plant maintenance and reliability teams. The role will also be responsible for the Managers Processing and Maintenance, ensuring their functions work collaboratively to meet strategic and operational objectives.

 The opportunity

  • Providing strong leadership and guidance to Processing Operations and Fixed Plant Maintenance teams to meet production and financial targets.
  • Overseeing Process planning, scheduling and production execution to achieve optimal productivity and resource utilisation.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing direct reports to build capability of the Processing and Maintenance leadership team including succession planning for all key positions.
  • Ensuring equipment maintenance strategies deliver maximum availability and reliability.
  • Taking responsibility in the absence of the Executive General Manger (EGM) of the site management team in maintaining production plans, operational efficiency and delivering against agreed production targets. As well as maximising production and maintaining cost control.
  • Acting as Deputy Registered Manager during the Registered Manager’s absence to ensure all statutory duties and responsibilities stipulated under the Mining Act are complied with.
  • Delivering regular reports to the EGM and CEO/MD. In the absence of the EGM providing status, initiative progress reports and preparing special submissions as required.
  • Ensuring the processing teams are focused on project plans and initiatives incorporating the objectives of the project with process, site and company.
  • Allocating and managing resources efficiently across Processing operations to meet operational and corporate objectives.
  • Managing alignment between process plans, maintenance schedules and production requirements.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Degree in Metallurgy or Mining is essential.
  • Degree in Business Management is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in mineral production and operations.
  • Relevant experience in a similar General Management role.
  • Previous expatriate experience on mining or construction projects in a remote location.
  • Proven leadership including commercial acumen, influencing, team development and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Fluency in Pidgin would be an advantage.
