We are currently seeking a LV Mechanic Fitter to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Foreman, the LV Mechanic provides Mechanical Maintenance of Light vehicle fleet and similar equipment (as designated), while ensuring health, safety, environmental, community relations and quality workmanship standards are maintained, all for the best value. Ensure adherence to statutory requirements as a minimum standard.

Scheduling accountabilities
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Mobile Plant team/crew

- Deliver a high standard of Light Vehicle Service, fault finding and repair in a timely manner ensuring no rework
- Follow company policies and procedures, ensuring all task are completed in a safe manner free from incident and injury
- Ensure you report any undesired events, unsafe practices or near misses to your direct supervisor immediately.
- Communicate clearly with your team members and leadership group
- Complying with established OH&S policies and practices
- Taking responsibility for reporting of incidents, including any injury or near miss to the OH&S Department and Safety Committee in a timely manner
- Complying with established environmentally sustainable measures so as to not adversely impact on the natural fauna, flora, fresh water resources and marine life within the bounds of Simberi Island
- Ensuring you are at work on time and be fit for work

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Mechanical Trade Certificate (NATTB Certified) or equivalent qualification
- Experience with maintaining or repairing light vehicles and similar plant equipment.
- Experience on a mining environment and light vehicle/mobile plant.
- Understand relevant engineering standards and associated procedures
Desirable
- Drivers Licence
- Best workmanship and dedication to complete tasks
- Physically fit and healthy
- Prepared to work out of hours as required.
- Previous experience working in a remote location
- The ability to work shift work and respond to calls.
