New Simberi Gold Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between St Barbara Limited and Lingbao Gold. Our Simberi Operations consists of an open cut mine on the northernmost island in the Tabar group of islands in the province of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea. We are currently seeking 2x System Administrators to join our team in a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Buka, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the HSS Manager, the System Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting and maintaining Health, Safety and Security application systems to ensure reliable, secure and efficient operation. The role supports system access, user administration, data integrity, issue resolution and continuous improvement across key operational systems, including access control and bus ticketing platforms

The opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration responsibilities for Health, Safety and Security application systems.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions and access levels in line with business requirements and approved access control procedures.
  • Support and maintain access control systems, including user enrolment, access updates, troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Support and maintain the bus ticketing system, including user support, configuration, issue resolution and data checks.
  • Monitor system performance, availability and data integrity, escalating technical issues where required.
  • Provide first-level support to users, including responding to system queries, resolving common issues and coordinating with vendors or IT support teams when required.
  • Maintain accurate system records, user registers, configuration information and administration documentation.
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing, process improvements and implementation of new functionality.
  • Ensure systems are administered in accordance with company policies, cyber security requirements and Health, Safety and Security operational needs.
  • Prepare routine reports and provide system data to support departmental decision-making and compliance requirements.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with New Simberi Gold Values
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in system administration, application support or a similar IT support role.
  • Experience supporting business application systems, access control systems or ticketing systems will be highly regarded.
  • Understanding of user access management, data security, system troubleshooting and basic reporting requirements.

 Desirable

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate system information.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
  • Sound understanding of system security, confidentiality and access control principles.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic system reporting tools
