We are currently seeking a Senior Training Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo, Wewak or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).
Reporting to the Training Superintendent.
To provide support and direction to the training team by effectively planning, designing, developing, assessing and evaluating the operational training plans for Simberi.
The opportunity
Technical accountabilities
- Ensuring safe work practices, own health and safety and all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported and addressed.
- Supporting Mining, Mill, Processing and Mobile Maintenance trainers to deliver training plans and outcomes as per the 12-month training plan
- Assisting trainers to update skills matrix with current training and assessments conducted
- Coordinating, overseeing, and supervising trainers to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently as per training guidelines
- Providing training governance, guidance, and support for implementation of system/enablers of the training business processes
- Liaising with line managers to identify training gaps and develop training need analysis
- Contributing to the development of training policies and procedures
- Ensuring all certificates issued are in line with the Certificate Issue Guidelines and quality audit register for all departments and contractors
- Assisting in the development of monthly reports and the completion of training reports.
- Evaluating individual and organizational performance to ensure training is meeting business needs and improving performance
- Selecting and managing resources, including working with both internal employees and training vendors to develop and deliver training outcomes
- Developing training opportunities between online and on-the-job, coaching, mentoring and other training methods. Identify and implement opportunities
- Ensure training/assessment and RPL’s are delivered as per schedule.
- Provide administrative support and guidance to the Training Administrator

- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the HR Training team.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes
- Current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment TAE 40116
- At least five (5) years relevant experience
- NTC Registration
- High energy with demonstrated capacity to deliver under pressure
Desirable
- Current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
