We are currently seeking a Storeman to join our team, permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Senior Storeman, the Storeman is responsible to provide general warehousing duties to support the supply functions and the operational objectives of SGCL Supply Department. This role will require working in conjunction with the Warehouse Officer.

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities 

  • Responsible for own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Assist to load and unload general cargo containers, trucks, and aircraft.
  • Take lead in the cargo, check off and recording and put-away process.
  • Accurate picking and packing of requested stock holdings.
  • Maintain delivery dockets, picking slips, purchase orders and receiving reports to a high level of accuracy.
  • Tagging and labelling goods ready for delivery or pickup.
  • Over the counter issues for emergency requirements.
  • Conduct appropriate housekeeping activities to ensure stock holdings remain in an appropriate condition, appropriately labelled, and packaged according to best practice.
  • Lead and complete the physical counts associated to registered stocktakes as required. 

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Ensuring availability to complete daily deliveries and meet aircraft for discharge action as necessary. 

People accountabilities

  • Contributing to an effective team/crew.
  • Assist the Warehouse Officer when requested.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • At least 5 years relevant mining or utilities experience
  • Driver’s and Forklift licences
  • Proficient in Pronto System
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • Strong ability to work effectively within the team.
  • Grade 12 education level
