We are currently seeking to recruit a Senior HR Officer to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations in New Ireland Province.
The Role
Reporting to the Human Resource Superintendent, this position supports to deliver on Human Resources Systems and Processes and to provide efficient and timely Human Resources support and advice to St Barbara Simberi Operations.

This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 21/14 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen, Tabar group of Islands, Alotau, Buka, Goroka Hoskins, Madang, Popondetta and Wapenamanda. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

- Maintaining a fair and consistent application of Human Resources policies, procedures, and processes.
- Coordinating all People Systems and Processes and provide advice to stakeholders as appropriate on (Recruitment, On-boarding, Work Performance, Career Development, Exit the Company, Training and Development, Discipline, Leave and Workers Compensation).
- Ensuring the end-to-end recruitment process including the recruitment software package is undertaken in a timely manner.
- Undertaking engagement of contractors for Simberi Operations including accurate maintenance of the contractor database.
- Supporting the establishment of the desired culture across the Company through teamwork and participation.
- Taking initiative and application of problem-solving techniques and conduct investigations where required.
- Coordinating Workplace Consultative Committee Meeting on a monthly per schedule.
- Providing support to Human Resources Superintendent in supervision, developing, planning, coordination and monitoring all HR functions.
- Ensure effective management of Employee data and information is updated in a timely manner.
- Ensure weekly and monthly reports are completed in a timely manner and communicated.
Qualifications, skills, and experience required:
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- A tertiary qualification or TAFE qualification in Human Resources related discipline.
- Five (5) years relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
- 2-3 years supervisory experience
- Instructional design experience
- On-line and manual Recruitment and HR Information Systems experience
- Have a high level of attention to detail.
- Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- High energy with a positive attitude
- Build and maintain relationships across all levels of the business.
- Previous relevant work experience in mining or heavy industry.
- Exposure to Industrial Relations/Employment Relations skills and work experience will be desirable.
- Exposure to ERP Systems, particularly Pronto XI, will be desirable.
