We are currently seeking a Senior Projects Coordinator/Structural Engineer to join our team. This is a three-year fixed term full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Manger Maintenance, you will coordinate the planning and delivery of projects and major plant stoppages within the Simberi maintenance function for the safe delivery of objectives defined within the annual maintenance and projects business plan.

The opportunity

  • Coordinate the business plan regarding the process plants structural integrity, including but not limited to inspections, remediation, design and certification.
  • Accountable for effective scoping and execution of all site support services and camp maintenance activities.
  • Accountable for project activities including the development of project charters, plans and reports.
  • Provide effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning for the camp maintenance, projects execution and support services personnel.
  • Work within the site training policy to mentor, coach and develop the Simberi local employees and maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and implement a localisation plan and a succession plan for the Senior Project Coordinator role.
  • Assist in supporting the maintenance strategy for the site.
  • Manage expenditure within budget levels and reforecast as required to achieve annual plan.
  • Ensure all capital projects are delivered within allocated budget and on schedule.
  • Understand maintenance cost drivers and seek sustainable improvements in unit maintenance cost performance.
  • Promote St Barbara’s values and behaviours.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • A degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a structural design role in the resources industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Extensive site construction experience.
  • Knowledge of the interpretation of safety and operational maintenance standards for all building and infrastructure maintenance across site.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • Can adapt effectively working alone or within a team.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
