We are currently seeking an Ancillary Leading Hand Fitter to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Foreman.   

This role is responsible to perform the functions of a Leading Hand Ancillary Fitter, to carry out diagnosis of faults, repairs, preventative maintenance and servicing of the ancillary equipment fleet including Cranes, Forklifts, EWP’s, Compressors, Water Pumps and Lighting plants.  

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  • Do routine maintenance checks on Ancillary fleet whilst adhering to safety standards and maintaining optimum performance.
  • Complete thorough diagnosis and troubleshooting on Ancillary equipment to resolve faults.
  • Adhere to a safe system of work that supports the safe execution of maintenance activities within the workshop and field operations.
  • Completing Compilation and adherence to JHA’s, SWP’s and SOP’s
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Defect identification management.
  • Ensure all allocated tasks are completed in line with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards or better and provide ‘fit for purpose’ repairs on equipment for safe and efficient use in achieving production plans.
  • Ensure that all servicing and repairs are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Adopt and facilitate a continuous improvement process which supports improvement in efficiencies.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Current unrestricted PNG Driver Licence
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanical Trade Certificate or Auto Electrical Trade Certificate (NATTB)
  • Minimum 4 years industry experience
  • Recognised training and certification in Heavy Equipment Maintenance.
  • Experience in Crane mechanical maintenance and familiar with Hydraulics, Pneumatics
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • Problem solving and Analytical Thinking skills.
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
