We are currently seeking a Manager Human Resources to join our team. This is a three-year maximum term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Simberi Operations you will deliver the Human Resources strategy, support Simberi Operations to provide sound advice and support via the provision of Human Resources and training services, systems and processes to attract, develop and retain talent, build workforce capability and enable diverse and engaged teams.
The opportunity
- Contributing to the Company’s People strategies and initiatives including planning, scoping, design and development.
- Ensuring there is an appropriate suite of HR, Training & Communications systems, policies and guidelines in place and that these are being used to good effect across the Company.
- Managing the maintenance and use of the HR & Training systems including Discipline Management, Exit, Leave, Payroll, Recognition & Reward, Remuneration, Visa Management and Work Performance.
- Acting as a business partner and providing sound and timely HR advice, support and information to the corporate functions, HR personnel and leaders in the management of employee and industrial relations.
- Ensuring all relevant internal and external HR, Training and Communications compliance obligations are met.
- Managing the site based Payroll System ensuring a quality service and compliant with internal and external regulatory requirements, including contributing to and managing remuneration surveys and reports.
- Managing the Company’s mobility including visa management for short and long term work permits and visas.
- Ensuring that all HR related matters are investigated as per the St Barbara Discipline Management System and the Grievance Resolution Framework including reporting.
- Managing the PNG EAP service provider ensuring appropriate provision of support to workforce.
- Conducting regular internal HR audits across Simberi to ensure quality HR and Training systems and processes are being maintained.
- Contributing to a successful Company-wide maintenance, use and reporting of high-quality and relevant Human Resources and Communications information.
- Supporting the establishment of the desired culture across the company.
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of Human Resources services.
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risk through developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Degree in Human Resources Management.
- Relevant experience in a similar Human Resources Management role.
- Previous expatriate experience on mining or construction projects in a remote location.
- Proven leadership including commercial acumen, influencing, team development and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and experience in managing payroll, superannuation and workers compensation.
- Expertise in the development and management of HR processes, procedures and systems.
- Outstanding internal consulting skills and business partnering capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
