We are currently seeking to recruit a Lead Electrician to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations. The ideal candidate must be qualified and experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems.
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent will undertake a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure, installing electrical wirings, troubleshooting malfunctions and blackouts and repairing appliances.

This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 15/13 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen or Tabar group of Islands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting intercom and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Install safety and distribution components ( switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc)
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring, and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Perform effective trouble shooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair damaged units.
- Able to interpret relevant parts manuals/ operating procedures and follow safe work procedures
- Maintain well-functioning electrical connections to minimise the probability of accidents
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Trades Certificate
- Proven experience as electrician in industrial electrical systems and / or commercial
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (wire stripper. Voltmeter and electrical drawings and blue prints.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity;
- Clear spoken and written English;
- Valid licence to practice
