We are currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Trainer to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Senior Training Supervisor, the Mobile Maintenance Trainer is responsible for the training and development of a workforce that is on a continuous shift roster and provides effective utilisation of all resources in a safe and efficient manner to achieve optimum performance.

The opportunity

Technical Accountabilities

  • Ensuring safe work practices, own health and safety and all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported and addressed.
  • Providing the planning and development of training packages and delivery of the maintenance training program,
  • Ensuring that site maintenance teams have the required skills and knowledge to perform their roles in supporting delivery of effective and efficient maintenance.
  • Conducting theoretical and practical training for all mobile maintenance employees and contractor’s.
  • Ensuring all records and evidence of training and assessments are duly captured and uploaded in the Training Management System.
  • Providing training governance, guidance, and support for implementations of systems / enablers of the mobile maintenance business processes.
  • Working with site resources to develop site training programs that ensures an individualised learning program that challenges and improves the knowledge and skills of each mobile maintenance team member.
  • Liaising with site HR & training teams to design and develop site training plans that include maintenance systems and process training.
  • Checking with mobile maintenance teams to ensure that appropriate training and development programs are provided to meet required outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a site departmental training matrix and calendar.
  • Reporting monthly on training delivered vs the training planned and any reasons for the inconsistencies.
  • Coordinating the new starter training package and conducting workshop inductions.

  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the team/crew.

People accountabilities

  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Ensuring outputs and development of the team/crew.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
  • At least 5 years relevant experience mining/industrial maintenance environment
  • Facilitation, training and change management focus
  • Recognised qualification in workplace training and assessment
  • Trade background with Planning experience
  • Three to five years relevant experience in a mining/industrial maintenance environment
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and solution generation and analysis
  • Experience as part of a mobile maintenance improvement team 

Desirable

  • Cert IV in training and assessing
