We are currently seeking a Sustainable Livelihood Project Coordinator to join our Community Relations team for a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Simberi Island, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Community Relations Manager, the primary purpose of this role is supporting the Simberi Operations Community Relation technical function focusing on sustainable livelihood and other developmental programs and initiatives.
The key role accountabilities include managing, coordinating, and monitoring project activities and relationships with partners and other project stakeholders to assist the achievement of the Integrated Approach through the establishment of cooperatives in the Tabar Group of Islands. In addition, maintaining budgets for each task while also organizing shareholder meetings to bring together all stakeholders involved with a particular project.
The role will be responsible for ensuring scheduling, budgeting and details of a given task are well organized. It entails communication with various departments to keep everyone on board about any changes to the community sustainable projects. In addition, will involve organizing reporting, planning meetings, and providing updates to the Community Relations Manager and the management team.
The Opportunity
Technical Accountabilities
- Coordinate, monitor and report on community development and sustainable livelihood projects from initiation through to completion.
- Lead project budgeting, monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
- Develop and maintain project plans, documentation, schedules and progress reports.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with quality standards, compliance requirements and community expectations.
- Support the development of strategic plans and long-term sustainable livelihood initiatives.
- Identify capacity-building opportunities for staff, community groups and partner organisations.
- Manage stakeholder engagement with cooperatives, government agencies and community representatives.
- Promote and maintain high standards of safety, environmental stewardship and compliance across all project activities.
- Recommend and implement improvements to project performance, productivity and outcomes.
Scheduling Accountabilities
- Effectively manage project timelines, milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate resources and activities to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Maintain project management systems, controls and reporting frameworks.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule risks or delays.
- Facilitate project meetings and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.

Essential
- Bachelor's Degree or higher qualification in Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Project Management, Strategic Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in community development, project management or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through to successful delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time-management abilities.
- Experience in budget monitoring, risk management and quality assurance.
- Strong client service and teamwork capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner and project management tools.
- Commitment to workplace safety and community development principles.
Desirable
- Experience within the mining, resources or extractive industries.
- Current PNG Driver's License.
- Experience working with community cooperatives, government agencies or development partners.
- Understanding of sustainable livelihood and rural economic development programs.
