We are currently seeking a Boilermaker – Site Services to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).
Reporting to the Camps Site Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible to provide technical and professional support to the Simberi Site Services team.

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.
The opportunity
Technical Accountabilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair steel structures, vessels, frames, and components
- Cut, shape, and prepare metal materials using hand and power tools
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Assist in Installation of new plant, equipment and pipe work including automated machinery
- Undertaking all fabrication duties to carry out repairs or to enhance plant equipment
- Contributing to obedience to all OH&S and standard work procedures
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards within personal work area
- Contributing to achieving maximum levels of machine uptime through the efficient and effective maintenance of plant & equipment and project work associated with new installations, the manufacture of fixtures and automotive equipment
- Assisting in major projects and coordinating smaller projects
- Undertaking work to maintenance/repair schedule
- Planning and prioritising of maintenance
- Reporting of mechanical activities to the Site services supervisor
- Undertaking & carrying out other operational tasks as required.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Trade qualification in Boiler Making
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in maintaining machinery, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial environment
- Demonstrated welding experience and qualifications in structural steel Fabrication, Welding & Cutting (oxy/acetylene, plasma, etc.)
- Experience in maintenance & repair of camp facilities, infrastructure and Equipment
- Understand relevant engineering standards and associated procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage time.
- A continuous improvement approach to all tasks.
- Developing initiative and problem-solving skills
- Prepared to accept responsibility.
