We are currently seeking a <Role Title> to join our team. This is a three-year max term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will supervise the Fixed Plant Maintenance function and workshop to safely achieve maximum plant throughput from ore delivered to the ROM and process plant.

The opportunity

  • Ensuring that the fit-for-purpose systems in place in the Engineering Department are operating properly.
  • Ensuring that the Fixed Plant Maintenance function delivers to plan in respect of production, recovery and cost per tonne.
  • Maximising the throughput of ore delivered to the ROM, both for the Rope Con and the SAG Mill.
  • Managing and controlling all maintenance activities. Including but not limited to;
  • Asset Management obligations- Maintenance strategies based on baseline reliability principles and life cycle costing.
  • Budget and Cost control.
  • Ensuring timely, accurate reporting of Fixed Plant Maintenance function performance to the Manager Engineering and other internal and external parties.
  • Contributing productively as a member of the Engineering Department Leadership Team.
  • Ensuring that the Fixed Plant Maintenance function develops and uses effective plans that derive from and support the Engineering Department and Simberi Operations plans.
  • Achieving department and individual goals to meet budgets.
  • Applying business and technical expertise to guide department in solving problems and take decisive action.
  • Maintaining an effective management system to review and monitor progress, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Encouraging continuous improvement across the department.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all personnel associated with the Fixed Plant Maintenance function within the Engineering Department.
  • Demonstrating and building commitment to managing change, assess impact of change and adapt.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Certificate III Electrical/Mechanical Trade or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Hydraulic system fault finding.
  • Experience in PLC Citect fault finding.
  • Current Driver’s license.
  • Understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks with high performance goals.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
  • HV Switching ticket would be desirable.
