We are currently seeking a Mine Geologist to join our team in a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the purpose of this role is to actively contribute to and ensure geological data is provided to the Planning and Mining Operations Departments for mine design and production planning in a timely and accurate manner to ensure production objectives are achieved.

The Opportunity
Technical Accountabilities
- Monitoring and minimising dilution impacts on ore block digging, ensuring ore delivery to correct destination.
- Ensuring compliance to blend plan and reporting any deviations to plan.
- Managing ROM stockpile control and feed to Mill as per blend plan.
- Completing post-blast mapping on benches and wall batters to designated KPI requirements, maintaining both quality and quantity standards.
- Generating RC grade control drilling designs and issuing to Mine Planning in line with mine planning schedule.
- Completing RC chip logging duties and data upload.
- Validating and importing RC collar, geology, sample data and assay files as required.
- Demonstrating a good geological understanding of the orebody to ensure sound interpretation of continuity and impact of material type and structure. Completing all ore block design steps as per Guideline.
- Working with Production Engineer to complete the two weekly blend plan.
Scheduling accountabilities
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of Grade Control models, drill designs and improvement projects.
- Ensuring QAQC on daily data analysis and deliverables.
- Meeting the Grade Control deliverables for weekly and monthly planning schedules.
People accountabilities
- Ensuring Technical, Mining and Process Operations team engagement across Grade Control requirements within the planning cycle.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements and taking appropriate professional development actions.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara Values
- Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology related discipline.
- At least two (2) years relevant work experience in an Open Pit Geology role.
- Ability to communicate across functional areas.
- Working knowledge of mining software, preferably Datamine
