American Football Australia (AFA) is the governing body for American football in Australia. We are committed to promoting both Tackle and Flag Football, developing, and growing the sport across the nation.

The Role

The AFA Board is establishing a new Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and there are currently three (3) vacancies for this Committee.

Responsibilities of the Committee include:

• Preparation and integrity of American Football Australia’s annual budget, financial accounts and statements
• Review of the organisation’s budget and quarterly financial performance or as otherwise required
• Review of business cases outside of approved budget
• Internal controls, policies and procedures that American Football Australia uses to identify and manage business risks
• American Football Australia’s insurance activities
• Qualifications, independence, engagement, fees, and performance of American Football Australia’s external auditor
• External auditor’s annual audit of American Football Australia’s financial statements
• American Football Australia’s compliance with legal, regulatory requirements and compliance policies. 

Desirable Skills & Experience:

We are seeking nominations from experienced individuals with the following skills:

• Strong risk management background
• Experience in financial reporting and auditing
• Certified practicing accountants or Chartered accountants.

Competencies:

• Financially literate
• Planning and organising
• Risk identification and assessment.
