Motorcycling Tasmania is the recognised state controlling body for motorcycle sport in Tasmania, supporting clubs, riders, officials, volunteers, and events across a wide range of disciplines. We are a member-based not-for-profit organisation focused on governance, participation, safety, sustainability, and growing the sport for future generations.
We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board and help guide the future of motorcycling in Tasmania. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your professional expertise in a governance role while supporting a unique sporting community.
The Role
As a Board Director, you will work collaboratively with fellow directors to provide strategic leadership and oversight, including:
- Setting the strategic direction of the organisation
- Ensuring strong governance, compliance, and ethical decision-making
- Monitoring financial performance and organisational sustainability
- Identifying and managing risk
- Reviewing policies and key organisational initiatives
- Supporting stakeholder relationships with clubs, members, partners, and governing bodies
- Participating in Board meetings, email resolutions, and governance discussions.
Criteria
Successful applicants will ideally demonstrate:
- Leadership
- Strategic planning
- Good judgement and integrity
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- An understanding of governance responsibilities
- An understanding of director’s duties, including managing conflicts of interest appropriately
- Commitment to supporting a volunteer-led not-for-profit organisation
- Willingness to contribute positively to Board culture and decision-making
- An understanding of risk, financial, and business management.
Applicants with experience across any of the following areas would be highly regarded:

- Legal and contract management
- Business Management
We also welcome applications from individuals with other skills, perspectives, or lived experiences that would strengthen the Board. Experience in motorcycling or sport is advantageous, though not essential.
