DanceSport Australia, as the national sporting organisation for DanceSport is seeking an exceptional leader to chair our brand new Nominations Committee – a unique opportunity to build something from the ground up and help shape the future leadership of DanceSport in Australia.

The Role

DanceSport Australia is in an exciting period of transformation, implementing a new Constitution and reshaping its governance structure.

As Chair of the newly established Nominations Committee, the responsibilities will include:

• Lead Board succession planning and renewal, with a focus on building diverse, skilled leadership
• Oversee the critical transition from the board structure in our old to new Constitution
• Develop and apply a Board Skills Matrix to identify what we need, then recruit exceptional directors
• Ensure robust Board induction and development to keep our governance sharp
• Advise the Chair and Board on Executive leadership matters
• Report regularly to the Board and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ethics

Criteria

• Extensive experience chairing or serving on Remuneration and/or Nominations Committees in corporate or sporting boards
• Strategic thinking with deep expertise in board governance, succession planning and director recruitment
• Ability to thrive in change – you've successfully navigated complex organisational transitions and you're comfortable working quickly and flexibly as priorities shift
• Ability to build trust, facilitate tough conversations, and manage sensitive matters with absolute discretion
• Demonstrate integrity, judgment and a genuine commitment to ethical governance
• Drawn to DanceSport because you recognise what makes it special – a sport that values enjoyment, wellbeing, excellence, inclusivity, safety and opportunity for everyone.
