Riding for the Disabled Association Australia (RDAA) is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities through equestrian activities.
We are seeking three (3) passionate and skilled individuals to join our board and help shape the future of our organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic oversight and governance
- Champion RDAA’s mission and values
- Engage and communicate with stakeholders across the RDA community and the broader sport community
- Analyse key financial statements
- Contribute to financial planning, oversee budgets and the efficient use of resources
- Ensure the Board governs Riding for the Disabled Association Australia in accordance with good governance principles and standards, the Constitution and Board Charter
- Oversight of the development of appropriate policies within which the organisation should operate
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and legal obligations
- AICD qualification or equivalent desirable but not essential
We are seeking candidates to lead the following functions:
Position: Legal and Governance
- Chair the Governance and Nominations Committee
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Act as company secretary for RDAA (desirable but not essential)
Position: Marketing & Philanthropy
- Develop and guide marketing strategies to strengthen RDAA’s profile
- Lead fundraising initiatives and build donor relationships
- Take the lead on grant identification and submissions
- Chair small marketing and philanthropy committee
- Support governance and strategic decision-making
Position: Board Treasurer
- Oversee the financial governance of RDAA, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations
- Chair the Audit and Risk Committee
- Ensure accurate financial reporting to the board
- Liaise with the chair and Executive Officer on budgeting, cash flow, and grant management
- Present financial reports at Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
- Support audit processes and risk management related to finances
- Advise the Board on financial sustainability and funding strategies
Time Commitment:
Approximately 6–8 meetings per year (the majority of which are virtual and occasionally in-person). Directors are expected to participate in committees or working groups.
