About us
Table Tennis Victoria Inc (TTV) is the state governing body for the sport of table tennis in Victoria and is a registered member of the national body for table tennis, Table Tennis Australia (TTA).
TTV is the largest state body in Australia with over 60 affiliate members (clubs & associations) and over 4500 individual annual members (competitive and social registered players).
The board
The TTV Board’s primary role is one of trusteeship on behalf of its affiliates and members, ensuring the organisation continues to remain viable and effective.
The TTV Board is a skills-based board comprising of directors who collectively have the skills, knowledge, and experience to effectively govern and direct the organisation. It is a requirement that candidates have the capacity to actively contribute to the Board and its activities.
The TTV Board is looking to add candidates with certain desired areas of expertise, in addition to the general duties expected of a Board Director.
The role
The current vacancy on the Board seeks candidates with one or more of the following areas of expertise:
- Commercial, Sponsorship and Business Development
- Human Resource Management
- Information Technology / Digital Skills
- Governance experience, including AICD qualification and/or previous board experience
Note: while not compulsory, applicants with Mandarin Chinese language skills will be highly regarded.
General Duties of Board Director:
- Shape TTV’s strategic direction, core values and ethical framework
- Appoint, direct, support and evaluate the Chief Executive Officer
- Approve, monitor, and review the financial and non-financial performance of the organisation
- Ensure an effective system of internal controls exist and are implemented, and that key policies are in place that can be legally applied as intended
- Identify and manage financial and non-financial risks
- Ensure the organisation complies with all relevant laws, codes of conduct and appropriate standards of behaviour
- Provide an avenue for stakeholder input into the strategic direction of the organisation
- Ensure director, board and chair performance evaluation occurs regularly
- Appropriately prepare and commit to attending board meetings
- Attend the AGM, relevant sub-committee meetings, and additional training opportunities, seminars, events etc.
