The Australian Flying Disc Association Limited (AFDA) is the peak organisation for disc sports in Australia. It provides services for its members at the national and international level.
AFDA’s goal is to enhance participation and grow disc sport in Australia, underpinned by the sport’s unique culture of “Spirit of the Game”.
AFDA is seeking experienced and passionate people to contribute to the governance of flying disc sport in Australia.
The Role
The Policy & Integrity Committee supports the AFDA Board in overseeing governance frameworks, organisational policy and sport integrity matters.
The committee helps ensure the sport maintains strong standards of:
- fairness
- safety
- inclusion
- accountability.
We are particularly interested in people with experience in areas such as:
- law
- governance
- regulatory compliance
- integrity systems
- policy development
- safeguarding or complaint management.
The committee supports the Board in overseeing implementation of the National Integrity Framework and strengthening policy systems across the sport.
Criteria
The eligible candidate must:
- Priority qualifications and/or experience (one or more): law, governance, risk management or regulatory compliance. Additional relevant experience may include integrity and complaint-handling frameworks, governance or policy drafting and review, child safety or safeguarding systems, or organisational policy assurance.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of governance principles and fiduciary responsibilities, with an appreciation for the role sport plays in strengthening communities.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with committee members.
- Be at least 18 years of age and able to obtain and maintain a Working With Children Check (or equivalent screening) in their state or territory of residence.
- Not be a current director or staff member of AFDA or any AFDA Member Organisation, nor a current Team Australia athlete, coach, team manager or physiotherapist.
Knowledge of the Australian sporting landscape and a passion for sport is desirable.
