About us

RDAT is a voluntary, not for profit (NFP) organisation. We provide equine related services to people with disabilities; offering opportunities to enjoy safe, healthy and stimulating horse-related activities and have been operating in Tasmania since 1975.

Our mission

RDAT supports our stakeholders to enable people living with disabilities to experience enjoyment, challenge and a sense of achievement through equestrian activities to improve their quality of life, attain personal goals and develop life skills.

The board

The role of the Board is to provide governance and strategic oversight of the organisation including, but not limited to, responsibility for financial and legal decisions, strategic planning, review and implement of policies, procedure and risk management.

The Board has a strong relationship with Riding for the Disabled Association Australia and ensures compliance with national policies and practices.

The role

We are seeking candidates with the following desirable skills and attributes:

  • A selection of professional skills and experience encompassing strategy, legal, governance, finance, marketing, business, human resources, health and safety, community and stakeholder engagement, risk management.
  • Previous Board or Committee experience.
  • NFP sector skills and experience with an understanding of the disability and community sectors.
  • Knowledge of decision-making and governance processes ideally in a community setting.
  • Ability to identify and critically evaluate growth opportunities and identify new ways in which the objectives of the RDAT can be achieved.
  • A strong values alignment and empathy for the work of the RDAT.
