SOA is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join the Finance, Audit and Risk Management (FARM) Committee.
As a valued committee member, you will collaborate with like-minded leaders, help strengthen organisational sustainability, and play a meaningful role in creating positive impact across communities.
The purpose of the FARM is to oversee the:
- Preparation and integrity of the organisation’s financial accounts and statements
- Internal controls, policies, and procedures that the organisation uses to identify and manage business risks
- Organisation insurance activities
- Qualifications, independence, engagement, fees and performance of the organisation’s external auditor
- External auditor’s annual audit of the organisation’s financial statements
- Organisation’s compliance with legal, regulatory requirements and compliance policies.
We are seeking candidates who have:
- Qualifications as a Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant (ideally) or tertiary qualifications in finance
- An understanding of the appropriate business of a Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, from either having reported into one or having been a member of one previously
- Experience in working with audit firms as a client or as an audit services provider
- Able to make a positive contribution to the committee as an excellent communicator who values and respects others’ expertise and contribution
- Knowledge of the obligations of charitable organisations
- A desire to make a difference to the lives of people with intellectual disability
- An aspiration to become a non-executive director of the SOA Board in the future.
