As part of the implementation of the GP-020 Sub-Program Governance Policy, Special Olympics Australia (SOA) is undertaking a one-off reset of State Sub-Program (SSP) and State Unitary Sub-Program (SUSP) Committees to establish compliant governance arrangements across all States and Territories.

This includes both the reconstitution of existing committees and the establishment of SSP or SUSP Committees in jurisdictions where they are not currently in place.

SOA is inviting applications for the mandatory SSP / SUSP Committee positions, excluding Athlete Representative roles. Athlete Representatives are appointed through peer selection in accordance with the relevant Charters and are not part of this process.


Positions Available

Applications are sought for the following mandatory Committee roles:

  • Chair
  • Administrative Officer
  • Finance Officer
  • Sport Manager

Position Descriptions are provided for each position and form the basis of assessment.


Application and Selection Process

This is a one-off, merit-based appointment process approved by the Nominations Remuneration and Governance Committee (NRGC).

The process involves:

  1. Application submission
  2. Eligibility, screening, and administrative triage
  3. Merit-based assessment
  4. Interviews (if required)
  5. Referee checks


Key Dates

  • Applications open: Monday 9 February
  • Applications close: Monday 23 February
  • Assessment commences: Tuesday 24 February
  • Appointments finalised: Tuesday 31 March


Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants must:

  • meet eligibility requirements under the relevant Charter;
  • hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • complete the Application Form in full.
