Australian Taekwondo is the National Sporting Organisation for Taekwondo in Australia. AUSTKD aims to create opportunity, foster participation and promote Taekwondo for everybody.
Australian Taekwondo invites interested individuals to nominate to join the Australian Taekwondo Board as an Appointed Director with a background and/or qualifications in commercial, marketing, or branding.
The Role
The incumbent will collaborate with the Board to foster an open, transparent, and collegial culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Strategic planning for the organisation
- Meeting the goals and objectives of the organisation as set out in the Strategic Plan
- Determining the policies and procedures relevant to the effective governance and performance management of the business
- Managing the organisation’s finances, risk, and compliance with legal requirements
- Ensuring Australian Taekwondo’s financial viability
- Managing member protection
- Appointing and managing the performance of the CEO
- As the National Sports Organisation and the peak body for Taekwondo in Australia, working to position AT appropriately within the global Taekwondo community.
- Optimising support for Taekwondo by the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Olympic Committee and relevant other Commonwealth and State Government agencies, particularly in relation to securing funding to support the further development of Taekwondo in Australia
- Promoting unity and inclusion in the Taekwondo community in Australia
- Participate in the work of the Board’s Committees.
Criteria
Having carried out a skills audit within the context of Australian Taekwondo’s Strategic Plan, nominations from people interested in being appointed as Directors who bring skills in:
- Commercial
- Marketing
- Branding
In addition to these specific skills and/or experience, the following Selection Criteria will also be used when assessing a nominee’s credentials:
- Appropriate background, experience, and industry knowledge.
- Appropriate level of education
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and competence in business, including financial literacy.
- Ability to analyse information and think strategically to make informed decisions and assess business performance.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with fellow directors and management team.
- Ability to commit the required time, including being available to attend Board and Committee meetings.
- High levels of personal and professional integrity
- The results of checks that are undertaken concerning the candidate’s character (e.g. employment, experience, education, criminal and bankruptcy history etc.)
Prior Board experience will be considered positively, as will be demonstrated leadership capabilities and corporate business administration.
