The Position

The Director - Project Delivery (Legal) role is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic management and delivery of projects for clients in the construction industry. This role encompasses advising clients on complex project-related issues, formulating strategy to resolve issues and and ensuring our clients comply with their obligations. You will act as a trusted advisor and representative, providing high-level legal guidance while managing risk, resolving disputes, and driving project outcomes, whilst working alongside our commercial team.  

As a leader, you will mentor team members, collaborate with key stakeholders, and engage external experts to support client outcomes. You will oversee and execute the full spectrum of project-related legal work, including: 

  • Providing strategic legal advice on construction projects.  
  • Meeting with clients to understand project goals, risks, and priorities. 
  • Identifying and analysing project risks and challenges and advising clients on mitigation strategies. 
  • Reviewing and assessing project documentation, contracts, and factual matrices to determine legal and commercial implications. 
  • Developing and implementing strategies to resolve project disputes and contractual issues. 
  • Preparing and managing key project documentation, including contractual notices and claims. 
  • Acting as a legal and commercial representative in negotiations 
  • Advising on and working with our claims team and external partners on dispute resolution processes, including: 
  • Informal dispute resolution 
  • Expert determinations 
  • Adjudications and arbitrations

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction law, project advisory, or dispute resolution and legally trained and qualified.  
  • Strong expertise in construction contracts, including AS contracts, GC21, and bespoke agreements and deeds. 
  • Extensive experience advising contractors, subcontractors, and principals, including government and private sector clients. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex factual and contractual situations. 
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with experience engaging with senior executives, clients, and industry experts. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
