SIMPEC has a casual opportunity for an experienced HSE Coach (Advisor) to join our team on our Sydney Metro Project for 6 to 12 months.

Sydney Metro is Australia’s most technologically advanced railway, and is Australia’s only fully accessible, driverless train service.

Reporting to the Director and based in Sydney, this position will work an ongoing Monday to Friday, 50-hour-week, and will be pivotal in driving and championing our SIMSafe Culture on site.

The Responsibilities

  • Auditing compliance against SIMPEC’s integrated management (including remote sites)
  • Governance activities and coaching to champion SIMPEC’s Critical Risk Management Guidelines
  • Coaching SIMPEC workers and leadership to excel in their approach to all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Development and review of Safe Environmental Work Method Statements
  • Assist in the maintenance and improvement of SIMPEC systems.
  • Assist in the review of statistics and development of improvement strategies.
  • Assessment and control of operational risks and hazards
  • Conducting inductions and other HSE related training.
  • Review and implementation of HSE plans to meet SIMPEC and contract requirements.
  • Review and implementation of SIMPEC HSE documentation in line business needs.
  • Compile monthly HSE reports.
  • Investigating and determining the root causes of incidents, hazards, and other unsafe conditions on the job site and/or office

About You

  • Hold a qualification within HSE (Minimum of Cert IV.)
  • Up to 5 years previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within the construction or rail industry
  • Strong understanding and solid working knowledge of HSE legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Analytical, innovative, and adaptable, you possess solid problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • High level of proficiency and expertise utilising Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular)
  • Incident investigation methodology (e.g., ICAM or Taproot), Training and Assessing (TAE40116), Injury management experience or qualifications, and an auditing qualification.
