We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager within construction to join SIMPEC to plan and oversee an upcoming Perth DIDO project set to begin late July. This position will be a FULL-TIME position with SIMPEC and offers ongoing, long-term opportunities within the business across a healthy pipeline of projects.

 The Role

  • Strongly demonstrate and support SIMPEC’s core values.
  • Participate and promote site safety initiatives and procedures embracing the SIMSafe culture framework.
  • Build strong and effective working relationships with Operations Manager and SIMPEC’s project team and able to positively motivate, coach and develop team members.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and effective communication with client representatives.
  • Ensure project teams are meeting the client’s and SIMPEC’s deliverables and objectives in relation to budget, schedule and overall project delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate consideration and assessment is undertaken with respect to commercial risks and liabilities in the expansion or changes to the project.
  • Lead proactively to ensure appropriate resources (personnel, equipment and systems) are budgeted, planned and coordinated.
  • Take part and promote reviews to identify, highlight and implement mitigation strategies to minimise or address issues that impact project performance.
  • Involved in the recruitment and retention of employees on the project and responsible for building a strong and effective work ethos within SIMPEC and the project.
  • Develop, analyse and prepare project reports, as required.
  • Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings and reviews.

 

About You

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in project engineering or project management within construction or resources sectors
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, business management or construction or relevant trade background
  • Contractor experience, strongly desirable
  • Lump sum contracting experience required
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders and team members at all levels.
  • Proven experience and comprehension in planning, scheduling, contract management and administration including construction estimating and cost control in the delivery of successful projects.
  • Ability to establish strong and trusted working relationships with key client representatives
  • Demonstrated understanding of governing Australian standards
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure in dynamic environments
