SIMPEC have been contracted for the construction and installation of a filtrate building at McArthur River Mine located in the Northern Territory. We're seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join our construction team ASAP for a duration of approximately 3+ months on a 2:1 roster, with the opportunity to roll across to other projects thereafter.

The Role:

  • Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Earn Value Analysis and Reporting for all assigned projects or other designated areas of responsibility within the business.
  • Formulate applications of standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with Project Manager, Contract Administrator (CA) and other team members.
  • Develop resource loaded baseline schedules for assigned projects in the primavera P6 system.
  • Generate labour and non-labour histograms from the resource loaded schedule and perform “levelling” as required
  • Perform weekly updates of project schedule, communicate changes in critical path, milestone dates and highlight delays and potential schedule slippages to project managers.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules to support site construction operations.
  • Set up and maintain delay and disruption reporting on the project and input delay events to the schedule.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management or related construction discipline or considerable experience.
  • 2+ years project controls experience with a significant part gained on site construction related to planning, scheduling, progress measurement, earn value analyses and reporting.
  • Sound understanding of Project Controls processes particularly critical path methods, principles of Earn Value system based on tangible quantities, unit rates and ‘Rules of Credits’.
  • Proficient in the use of scheduling software systems particularly Primavera P6 and progress measurement databases.
  • Previous experience in a similar role on major construction SMP/E&I/Civil projects.
  • Site based experience is highly desirable.
