SIMPEC have been awarded the main procurement and construction contract for the residue filtration stage 2 project at Alcoa's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery, which will involve delivering infrastructure and services to increase processing capacity.

We're seeking a HSE lead to provide leadership to our HSE team, project management and operational personnel to proactively manage risk, promote a strong safety culture, and provide advice and support to the project team to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel. 

This role will be full-time for a duration of approximately 12 months and will be DIDO to site daily.

The Role:

  • Lead and mentor the project HSE team, providing guidance, coaching and support to ensure effective delivery of HSE objectives.
  • Implement and maintain the Project HSE Management Plan and supporting systems in accordance with SIMPEC standards, legislative requirements and client expectations.
  • Support workforce engagement initiatives including safety observations, toolbox meetings, and leadership safety interactions.
  • Lead the identification, assessment and control of operational hazards and risks associated with project activities.
  • Oversee incident and hazard investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Conduct and coordinate HSE audits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and SIMPEC’s Integrated Management System.
  • Liaise with client representatives and relevant stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships with alignment on HSE matters.

About You:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within the resources and/or construction sector in a project environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HSE Legislation, regulatory obligations and compliance requirements.
  • Incident investigation methodology (e.g., ICAM or Taproot)
  • Injury management experience and/or qualifications
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence operational leaders and engage effectively with workers.
