About the Role

  • FIFO 2:1 Roster

Responsibilities

  • Review contract documentation and project plans to prepare quantity needs and estimated costs.
  • Estimate the quantity and costs of labour and materials.
  • Prepare variations to contracts and related documents.
  • Assisting in setting budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials.
  • Track and understand changes in the schedule and construction methods to regularly update cost forecasts and to substantiate claims for variations, delays or otherwise.
  • Document progress, materials and preparing project reports.
  • Prepare and submit payment claims in line with works complete and as required under the agreed terms.
  • Pursue recovery for time and cost whether under variation, extension of time, disruption, or other claims.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and site managers/engineers.
  • Keep track of construction materials and inventory.
  • Identify potential financial or construction risks.
  • Advise clients on improvements, strategies, and/or estimated costs.
  • Negotiate favourable outcomes with contractors and subcontractors, particularly in relation to variation and progress valuations.
  • Utilise software to calculate, record, and track inventory and estimates.

Skills and experience

  • Recognised qualifications in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated 4+ years experience in general construction estimating experience, commercial/contractual or project controls experience on major Australian construction projects.
  • Advanced technical skills/knowledge and a thorough understanding of the complexities of commercial contracts.
  • Recent experience on major construction projects and an appreciation of current developments and trends with respect to commercial claims and project controls.
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets; strong estimating and financial analysis skills.
  • High level attention to detail and ability to interpret and understand commercial clauses.
  • Proficient in computer skills within the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly excel).
  • Highly developed analytical, written and verbal skills.
