We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our project team in Kwinana, where we have been contracted to perform all SMP works to integrate new mechanical equipment into the existing processing plant. This will be a site-based role and will be required for a minimum duration of 3 + months with the high possibility of extension till the end of the year.

The Role:

  • Monitor cost commitments and expenditure through all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that financial policies, procedures and internal controls are effectively implemented and a robust financial control environment is in place.
  • Pro-active and forward-looking participation with Project Managers to interrogate and test assumptions related to project costs.
  • Take ownership of the cost control function and ensure integrity of the data being processed in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Ensure accurate representation of the project’s financial data is recorded
  • Regularly report to the Project Manager with respect to budget and schedule achievements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project cost budgets and the reporting of any cost variances.
  • Preparing updates to project cost forecasts and financial reporting.

About You:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or related discipline, or considerable relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge and broad understanding of cost control techniques and processes.
  • High level of proficiency and expertise utilising Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular).
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills to achieve proficient and effectiveness in managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
