SIMPEC have been awarded the main procurement and construction contract for the residue filtration stage 2 project at Alcoa's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery, which will involve delivering infrastructure and services to increase processing capacity.

We're seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to commence on site early October. This role will be Monday - Friday, DIDO Daily for a duration of approximately 7+ months.

The Role:

  • Positively lead and promote safety policies and procedures, verifying successful implementation and adherence to such procedures within all commissioning activities.
  • Execute and coach the effective use of the Commissioning Management Plan phases and tollgates. Including, but not limited to; Build Verification, Punch Listing, Notice of Energisation (NOE), Functional Testing, Process Testing, Request for Commissioning (RFC) and Commissioning Completion.
  • Review and lead commissioning packaging and readiness including, but not limited to; ITR Matrix
  • Manage the reporting of commissioning execution ensuring that all technical and contractual information is properly collected, recorded and available for reference and review as required by law regulations and company policies / procedures.
  • Progressively contribute to the compilation of the Project MDR ensuring traceability is maintained through to closeout of the project.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical) or trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience
  • Demonstrate experience in leading a team
  • Demonstrate experience in working with Completion Management Systems (Hexagon CMS)
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering governing standards in Mining Construction particularly Australian Standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant SMP safety standards is mandatory.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels. 
  • Good understanding of all stages of construction, from construction verification to commissioning.
