The health services at Clarence Correctional Centre, Lavadia, NSW, has 3 modern health centres that delivers appropriate standards of health care to approximately 1,700 inmates from diverse backgrounds and cultures. You will work in a safe, new and state-of-the art centre with access to the latest technology.


About the Opportunity

This is a full-time position where you be responsible for providing expert clinical advice, clinical governance, support and leadership to the health care team. The health care team works closely with correctional staff to deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that provide primary, acute and emergency care based on a patient-centred model allowing custodial patients to actively participate in their health management.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to all staff working across the Health Service including providing consistent recognition and encouragement to staff.
  • Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager you will; ensure the Centre is adequately equipped, effectively manage staff absenteeism, leave provisions & manage performance.
  • Coordinate access to services including telehealth and demonstrate clinical nursing skills and critical thinking.
  • Contribute to the induction of health staff including health students and ensure operational and administrative duties including maintenance of appropriate records are performed.

About you - your ideal skills & experience 

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Recognised post graduate tertiary qualifications or working towards the same in a relevant clinical or management degree
  • Minimum 4 years full time equivalent post graduate experience
  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (HLTAID009) – or willing to obtain prior to commencement
