About the Opportunity

In this Casual role you will work in a close-knit team, utilising your clinical skills to ensure all new received prisoners and current prisoners are assessed, treated in a manner that the client determines as being culturally safe. You will truly make a difference in this position where you will be able to impact those in our care by providing interventions to mitigate risks, develop nursing care plans in partnership with the patient and any identified supports which may include family/ whanau. What you’ll be doing 

  • Refer and collaborate with other health professionals and hospital facility when required
  • Evaluate client’s progress towards outcomes and ensure the patient has adequate explanation of the effects, consequences and alternatives of proposed treatment options
  • Be able to make an impact by providing health education to patients
  • Triage emergency situations and provide emergency nursing care

About you - your ideal skills & experience 

  • Current Registered Nurse practicing certificate
  • 2 years in a Primary Health/Emergency Department experience (desirable)
  • Must have full rights to work in New Zealand (Resident, PR or NZ Citizen)
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply the principals of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te o Waitangi to nursing practice and wider corrections context
