About the Opportunity

This is an excellent career choice if you are interested in joining or continuing your career in the Security sector. Due to the nature of the role and facility, you will be required to work a 24/7 rotating roster, which include days, nights and weekends. This role will see you working in the Master Control Room, Residential Control Room, Gate House and External Visits.

To ensure your success you will be supported with comprehensive induction training and on-going core compliance training.

What you’ll be doing

  • The key purpose of the role is to support the daily operation of the prison in areas such as control room operation, escorting of vehicles around site and communications
  • The role is critical to the successful daily operations of the prison
  • As with all roles, you will play an important role in ensuring the reduction of re-offending, which is a key focus Auckland South Corrections Facility to achieve its outcomes

 About you - your ideal skills & experience 

  • As a person, you exhibit the utmost trust, integrity and patience in all that you do
  • Ideally, you will have a background in control room operation and administration from the justice and security sector
  • You will have knowledge and experience with handling sensitive information and using a variety of computer software systems
  • You are customer-focused with a keen eye for detail and intuition to identify potentially suspicious behaviour
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (written and oral) are important, as is your ability to prioritise and act with urgency
  • You are flexible to work shifts and support the prison in various functions on various shifts
  • You will take responsibility for your work, be patient and resourceful so you can manage your day and the workload effectively
  • Previous experience in security or criminal justice (desired)
  • High energy, urgency and motivation in your work
  • Personal integrity and an ethos consistent with Serco values and Kohuora ASCF kaupapa
  • An understanding of the principles of partnership in the Treaty of Waitangi, and a commitment to better outcomes for Māori
  • The right to work legally in New Zealand
